who we are
Through the Heart is led by husband and wife team Steven & Vanessa Miller. The couple fittingly met in Hollywood in 2009. Their love of all things cinema was an instant connection. One of their first dates was the Final Destination 5 premiere. Developing a plan to work together in the film business took a brief hold when the couple had their first of two babies.
In the meantime, Steven’s feature film debut was purchased by Dimension Films and over the course of the next decade he dominated the indie film space. Directing 12 feature films in just under ten years for studios like Lionsgate, Dimension Films, Anchor Bay, and Saban. His list of genre credits ranged from horror to thriller to action and everything in-between. He worked with major stars including Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, John Cusack, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Eckhart, and Dave Bautista.
Not to let raising two kids slow her down, Vanessa began creating exciting social marketing campaigns that coincided with Steven’s film releases. Vanessa’s ability to have a pulse with the social trends allowed her to become one of the most valuable assets to building Steven’s film brand. As the brand became bigger, so did Steven’s love for editing. Over the course of his directing career, his passion for editing grew and quickly became a regular side hustle.
Teaming up with smart indie studios like Dark Sky Films, Epic Pictures, XYZ, and The Solution Group, Steven was able to build up an impressive resume of trailers in-between directing his features. This is when the couple realized their dream of working together on a bigger scale was ready to become a reality.
Finally they would combine the skills of editing with the talent of social marketing to create the bad-ass trailer house that is THROUGH THE HEART.

From shooting skate videos in his back yard to having his feature film debut picked up by Dimension Films , Steven has reinvented the way indie films are made. His break neck pace of filming has caused many seasoned producers to rethink how they approach financing and even scheduling a feature film. Staying ahead of the curve, Steven has continued to enhance his skills on set and in the edit bay.

Vanessa Miller
Vanessa focuses on the various facets of digital media and social networking, whether that’s designing websites or creating spectacular social media content. Prior to co-founding Through the Heart, she focused on finishing her literature degree. Vanessa has been behind the scenes and involved in the film business for over 10 years.
